8 ways to be more sustainable in 2021

Updated: Jun 5, 2021

Sustainable living involves reducing the amount of Earth's resources that you use, to help protect it. Here are a few ways to be sustainable in 2021. 1. Switch to reusable water bottles. Plastic bottles are not recycled, so switching to a reusable bottle reduces the use of single-use plastic bottles by around 150 every year and provides a more sustainable way to hydrate. Glass bottles are preferable. 2. Grow your own herbs! By growing your own garden, you are deciding what goes into your plants, which allows you to reduce the harmful chemicals put into grocery produce and also, reducing plastic and saving your money. In addition to being reusable, cloth bags are strong and can carry more weight than plastic carrier bags. They are also eco-friendly than single-use plastic bags. 4. Purchase sustainable toothbrushes- The bristles are verified Free of BPA (Bisphenol) and are made from Nylon. Although they're not biodegradable, they can be recycled. 5. You can never have enough house plants. Aside from adding visual appeal to a room, indoor plants are also proven to improve mood, encourage creativity, reduce stress, and remove air pollutants, making you healthier and happier. 6. Stop Using Single-Use Plastic Straws. Straws are sharper than they look. Millions of sea animals, such as turtles and seabirds eat them, thinking it's food. This ends up hurting them, and leads them to death. Metal straws are a great alternative to plastic straws. 7. Go paperless. Use your computer, phone, or tablet to take notes. 8. Reduce household energy use. Most modern appliances, such as ovens, dishwashers, dryers, etc., use significantly less energy than older ones. Doing these things may not be easy, but taking one step at a time can make a lot of difference
